Quiet Meadow and Blending Ink

Happy Monday night everyone. I have been crafting and watching Monday Night Football. I was inspired by a few challenges while creating this card. Seize the Birthday Challenge #226 Make a Sunset Scene started the process off. While Looking for a color combo, I came across the Inspire Create Challenge #103. Add finally, I remembered the Just Add Ink #579 Foil, Glimmer Shimmer Challenge to tie it all together.

The color required for the Inspire create Challenge are Cherry Cobbler, Crushed Curry, Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen.

I used all four colors to blend the background to create the sunset scene for Seize the Birthday.

Just Add Ink Glimmer and Shimmer was added with some Specialty Papers cut with Meadow Dies. Glimmering Butterflies were cut from Be Dazzling Paper and the flora was cut from Evening Evergreen Shimmer Vellum.

Evening Evergreen was used for the card base. A layer of Cherry Cobbler borders the card front.

Make sure you check out these fun challenges.

UGH! Time Change

Good morning all. I hope you took advantage of the extra hour and slept. I did not, I woke up normal time. I'll be dragging later. The good news is the time allowed me to finish a card for Creative Colour Challenges #9.

The colors for this challenge were Merry Merlot, Pear Pizzazz and Gorgeous Grape. These are three colors I don't use very often.

I used the Summer Shadows die set as my focus. I cut out the flowers and leaves from Basic White card. I used the blending brushes to add color to the top portion of the flowers and the leaves. Gorgeous Grape ink for the flowers and Pear Pizzazz for the leaves.

The Sentiment was stamped using Merry Merlot ink and fussy cut out. I also used the Merry Merlot stamp pad to color a piece of white twine to bring in more of that color.

Card Layers use Gorgeous Grape and Pear Pizzazz. The card base is Merry Merlot. I also used vellum card stock cut from the Stitched so Sweetly set.

I used Gorgeous Grape Sheer Ribbon and Elegant Faceted Gems to finish off the card.

Thanks for stopping by, go check out the other cards in this challenge.

Pumpkin Sparkle

Today's card sketch is was inspired by The Paper Players Sketch Challenge #554. The theme was inspired by Global Design Project #315 All things Pumpkin

I love this paper. The Harvest Meadow DSP is perfect for fall paper crafting. The DSP is especially perfect for this layout. The Calypso Coral works well as the backdrop for this sparkling pumpkin.

The pumpkin was created by overlapping three ovals cut from the Be Dazzling Specialty paper. The leaves were made by cutting down leaves from the Haunts and Harvest Paper Pumpkin Kit.

The card base for this card is Sahara Sand.  It is topped by a layer of Calypso Coral. There is another layer of Sahara Sand that was embossed using the Timeworn Type Embossing Folder. More Calypso Coral is added to frame the panels of DSP.

The sentiment is from the Paper Pumpkin kit and was stamped on Sahara Sand with Soft Succulent ink. A Thin strip of Soft Succulent borders the banner.

I hope you like the card. Full disclosure, my card front was glued onto the card base upside down. 😏 Be sure to check out the other cards in these two challenges.

Cute Halloween

Hello all! I have been busy getting Halloween treats ready today. I took some time out to create this card. It is based on a sketch and theme put out by Inspired By... This week's challenge,  IB192 Who's Your Boo?

Once again the Cute Halloween DSP does a lot of the work. I did stamp the images this time instead of cutting them from the DSP.

A Pumpkin Pie card base was layered with Basic Black to create a thin border around the striped DSP. The sentiment was embossed with black embossing powder before being down.

Three other patterns of the DSP were cut into rectangles and adhered to the card front.

The images were stamped in black onto Basic White cardstock using the Cutest Halloween stamp set. The ghost and pumpkin were cut out using the coordinating punch. The skeleton was fussy cut. The images are colored with blends and attached with dimensionals.

I colored the Black & White Gingham Ribbon with the Pumpkin Pie Blend to add some color. A few black Cute Stars Adhesive Backed Sequins were added for shine.

There are a lot of great projects submitted to this challenge, make sure to check them out.

Alcohol Blending Technique

I have tried this technique once before but I never did anything with the papers I created. I was hoping to create a dark sky as a background for fireworks. Today's attempt at this technique was more successful. This technique is this week's TGIFC#339. The design and color inspiration came from today's Just Add Ink #577 Just Add Inspiration

The picture below shows my completed alcohol blended vellum. The blends I used included Light Cherry Cobbler, Dark Mossy Meadow, Dark Highland Heather and Dark Daffodil Delight.

The Cherry Cobbler card base borders a Petal Pink  piece of In Good Taste DSP.

I added a piece of the the Cork Specialty Paper for some texture. A piece of Basic White cut with the Scalloped Contours dies is a backdrop for the leaves.

The leaves, from the Forever Flourishing dies, were cut from the alcohol blended vellum.

The only stamping was the sentiment which is from the Shaded Summer stamp set. It was stamped using Cherry Cobbler onto Basic White and cut using the Tasteful Labels dies. The Cherry Cobbler circle was cut using the Layering Circles dies.

Cherry Cobbler and Gold Metallic Ribbon was cut in half to make a smaller bow.
I added some Wonderful Gems for a little more sparkle.

I enjoyed working with this technique and plan to pull out the old pieces I made.

Thanks for looking at my card. Be sure to check out the other creations from these fun challenges.

Happy Birthday

Hello everyone! I'm a little late to the party in getting the Shaded Summer stamp set. I just got it during the recent one-day sale. (I got the dies during Sale-abration.) Today's cerd is a compilation of three challenges. First, is a color challenge by CAS Colours and Sketches #442 The colors are Night of Navy, Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive. The next challenge, a new one for me, Seize the Birthday #225 Use a Stencil. Add last but not least, Watercooler Wednesday Challenge 327 All Things Feminine

I love the Shaded Summer stamp set. The flowers are gorgeous and the font is beautiful. Although, today's sentiment is from the Timeless Tulips stamp set. The size worked better for my design.

I stamped the flowers in Old Olive onto Basic White card and cut them out using the die. The leaves were colored with light Old Olive blend.  The flowers were stamped again on white scraps using Rich Razzleberry and colored with Rich Razzleberry and Pale Papaya blends and were fussy cut out and glued in place to cover the green flowers.

For the stenciling, I used the Adorning Designs Decorative Masks and Night of Navy ink. I used a blending brush.

I cut the scalloped border below the sentiment out of Night of Navy. It is part of the Painted Labels dies.

I really like the way this card came out. I hope you like it too. Be sure to check out the other cards in these challenges.

DSP and Dies

Today's card was started with a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches #508. The Frightfully Cute dies are perfect for creating a Halloween scene.

You cant go wrong with the Cute Halloween DSP. The Haunted House pattern is a great backdrop for this witching scene. All elements are cut and/or stamped using the Frightfully Cute Bundle.

A Basic Black card base borders the Old Olive DSP.  A 2 inch strip of the striped DSP goes down the center of the card.

A Basic White Stitched rectangle, framed by a piece of Basic Black, centers the scene. The bats are stamped on the rectangle

The sentiment and witch are stamped in black onto Basic White. The small pumpkin was stamped using Pumpkin Pie. They are cut out with paper snips.

The moon was clear embossed using Versa Mark on Mango Melody cardstock.

The fence was cut from Basic Black and the trees were cut from Early Espresso.

I hope you like the card. Make sure you check out the other entries for this Freshly Made Sketch #508.

Easy Card Making with DSP

When I saw the color combination for the Colour Inkspirations Challenge CI109, I thought of the floral Crushed Curry paper from the Pattern Party DSP. I first paired it with the polka dotted Pool Party from the same DSP pack. The dots just didn't seem right. After a quick search, I found a small rectangle from the Sweet Stockings DSP.

I combined this color combo with a sketch provided by Global Design Project 314.

The card base is a 5 1/5" by 8 1/2" piece of Cinnamon Cider scored at 4 1/4". A piece of 5 1/6" by 3 15/16" Early Espresso borders the piece of 5 1/16" by 3 13/16" Crushed Curry DSP.

The Pool Party DSP was cut into a 2 1/8" by3 1/4" rectangle.

The second largest circle from the Layering Circle dies was cut from Basic White, Pool Party ink was lightly brushed onto the circle with a Blending Brush. A few Cinnamon Cider splatters were added. The second largest scalloped circle was cut from Early Espresso and layered behind the white circle.

The leaf was cut from Cinnamon Cider using the Intricate Leaves dies.

The sentiment, from Many Happenings, was stamped on Basic White with Early Espresso. It was cut with the coordinating Messages die.

A small bow made with the gold Simply Elegant Trim pulls the card together.

I hope you like my card. Make sure you check out the entries for this Global Design Project #314.

A Blast from the Past

For this week's Retro Rubber Challenge #169 Anything Goes, I went way back. I believe this set is from 2003-04. I remember using this set for both cards and for treat packaging. It is so cute!

The Retro Rubber Challenges gives a great way to show how we can easily combine old products with new. I used the old Just Flying by stamp set and the new Cute Halloween DSP.

The first time around I colored the image with colored pencils. This time I used blends and Wink of Stella on the ghost.

I added some Cute Stars Sequins for just a little embellishment.

I hope you like this flashback card. Be sure to check out the other cards in this challenge.

Cutest Skeleton

Good morning everyone. It is a cool, wet morning here in the Pacific Northwest. A perfect day for making progress on my Halloween crafts. I'm taking a minute to grab a hot cup of Darjeeling tea and write up this blog post. Today's card is inspired by two card Challenges. One provides the sketch and the other sets the color and theme.

Tic Tac Toe 135 set the colors that led me straight to the Cute Halloween DSP. The layout was provided by Sunday Stamps SSC268 Going in Circles

The Tic Tac Toe board the colors for this card, Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie and Highland Heather.

I used Heather Highland for the standard card base. A piece from the Cute Halloween DSP added a printed layer. I colored some of the candies with the dark Pumpkin Pie blend.

Three of the cute skeletons were fussy cut from the DSP. Two skeletons were stamped with black ink using the Cutest Halloween stamp set.

The sentiment also from the Cutest Halloween set was stamped with Highland Heather ink onto thick Basic White cardstock. The words were cut out and layered onto Pumpkin Pie cardstock.

All of the pieces were then arranged on a Thick Basic White Stitched Rectangle.

Fall Feels!

This fall bear makes me want to cuddle up on the sofa with a warm cup of cocoa and a good book. This card will be given to a special little girl for Thanksgiving. The design of this card, the sketch and theme, came from Inspired by Challenge IB191 I'd Fall for You

This cute bear was from the December 2020 Paper Pumpkin kit.

Pattern Play DSP was colored with fall colored blends, Cinnamon Cider, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Cajun Craze, Calypso Coral and Cherry Cobbler.

Sparkle

Evening everyone, I did some crafting while watching Sunday Night Football. Go Steelers! This card was inspired by a sketch put out by CAS Colours and Sketches #441

The jumping off point for this card was a piece of the Peaceful Place Specialty DSP. The sparkle of the paper led me to a snowflake.

This snowflake was cut from Silver Foil using the Gingerbread Dies.

The Smoky Slate card base is topped with a layer of Basic Gray cardstock that was embossed using Evergreen Forest 3D Folder.

The sentiment from the Christmas to Remember stamp set was embossed onto Basic Gray card using silver embossing powder.

A few Subtle Shimmer Sequins added more sparkle to this card.

Thanks for looking at my card. Be sure to see the rest of the cards in this challenge.

A Color Challenge

Good morning everyone. I am cutting it close today to make the deadline for Global Design Project #313 Color Challenge. I don't even have time to get my coffee. Today's challenge included Real Red, Sahara Sand and Basic Black.

This is another color combo that had me stretching. I immediately knew I wanted to use the black and white Beautifully Penned DSP. I also wanted to color the DSP in some way.
I found that I didn't have any type of Sahara Sand Ink. (I just added the stamp pad to my order.)
I found the Sahara Sand Tag in my scrap pile and the card began to come together. I also used Sahara Sand for the card base and leaves.
The flowers come from the Summer Shadow Dies and were cut from Real Red and Basic Black Cardstock.
The stripe was colored with the dark Real Red blend and The sentiment, stamped with Basic Black, is from the Pansy Patch stamp set.
The tag tie of Real Red Sheer Ribbon and black twine finished the card.

Thanks for stopping by to see my card. Make sure to check out the other entries for this challenge.

How Can These Colors Work Together?!

This week's Sunday Stamps Challenge 267 Autumn Boldness brings together some bright colors. When I first saw them, I was definitely stumped. My first step was to look at my DSP to see if there were any papers that combined these colors. I didn't have any. I did have a piece of bumblebee from the Harvest Meadow DSP. I chose the sketch provided by Fusion Card Challenge for the layout.

Cardstock: Bumblebee, Poppy Parade and Basic White

Inks: Bumblebee, Poppy Parade, Coastal Cabana and Pumpkin Pie

Be Dazzling Specialty Paper

Harvest Meadow DSP

Quiet Meadow Bundle

Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder
