Pretty Pines

Last week I made a card that had a forest of pink and purple trees, Today I have a card that also has a color twist. Today it is blue pine boughs and mistletoe. As You See It Challenge #287  asks the card maker to use earthy and blue tones to make a masculine card. You also had to incorporate twine and die cuts on your card. I chose Crumb Cake, Balmy Blue and Night of Navy, along with the colors in the DSP as my color scheme to work with Day 17 of #30DayChristmasCardMakingChallenge

When I started this card, I was not at all sure it would work. I went into it prepared to scrap it. In the end I was very pleased with how it turned out.

I tried a few different background layers before I settled on this piece from Painted Christmas DSP. I am down to my final scraps of this paper.

I backed the DSP with Night of Navy and layered it onto a Crumb Cake card base.

The sentiment from Christmas Pines was stamped with Night of Navy ink onto Crumb Cake card. It was cut using Tailor Made Dies. The tag was tied with a few strands taken from the Silver Threaded Twine.

The remaining elements were cut using the Pretty Pines dies.

  1. Suzy, I'm so glad you didn't scrap this because it's a very attractive design, perfect for this challenge! I really like the nice wide border of Crumb Cake and the choice of patterned paper you used! Your sentiment on the tag and the blue fir boughs really add to the masculine feel. Thanks for cooking up our recipe at As You See It Challenges!

  2. Oh my! So much to like about this! The wide Crumb Cake border draws attention to the lovely panel. The DSP is a great choice, the cluster of foliage to the side really shows off the tag sentiment. Great Christmas card! Thanks for joining in with us at As You See It Challenge.
