Lightening Bugs

Hi Friends,

Today's card is all about summer memories. Living in western PA, catching lightening bugs was always a summertime activity as a child. We would catch them and put them in a jar to make our own lanterns. #30daycrazyfarewellchallenge Day 26 #iseesummer was the jumping off point for my card that took my to the Lighting the way stamp set. Creative Colour Challenge#86 provided the colors. The colors were Daffodil Delight, Poppy Parade and Basic Gray.

I started by inking an acrylic block with Basic Gray ink. I spritzed it with water and stamped a piece of 3 1/8" by 4 1/8" Shimmery White cardstock.

This was layered onto a 4 1/8" by 5 1/4" piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock and then attached to a Basic Gray card base.

The sentimant and fireflies were stamped with Basic Gray ink onto Shimmery White cardstock and cut out with the coordinating dies. The "lights were colored with Daffodil Delight. The bugs were attached to the card with dimensionals.

The lantern was cut from Poppy Parade cardstock. A 1 1/8" vellum circle was stamped with the largest "light" using Daffodil Delight. It was heat embossed with clear embossing powder, These were layered onto the card.

The sentiment was cut with the Stylish Shapes dies along with a Daffodil Delight banner. These were layered together and attached to the card.

Be sure to check out the other entries in these challenges.
