Blushing Bride and Starry Sky

Hi Everyone,

Today I have a card that was inspired by this week's Tic, Tac, Toe Challenge #194. Joanne has created a great board with a lot of great elements. The elements I chose  were Patterned Paper, Flower and Ribbon/Bow.

To make my card I started with a 3 7/8" by 5 1/8" piece of the Starry Sky Dainty Flowers DSP. This was layered onto a  4" by 5 1/4" piece of white cardstock and then attached to a Blushing Bride card base.

I used the Timeworn Type embossing folder and the Heart Pack Punch for the Blushing Bride heart. This was glued to the card front.

I stamped the flowers and sentiments from the Honeybee Home stamp set with black ink. I colored the flowers with Old Olive, Fresh Freesia and Daffodil Delight blends. I also used the Blushing Bride Stampin' Write Marker. I used  the Honeybee Blooms dies to cut out the flowers. The pink flowers were attached with glue.

I flagged the ends of the sentiment strip. The sentiment and purple flowers were attached with dimensionals.

I added a bow made with the White Crinkle Seam Binding. To finish the card I added Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

Lucky Clover

Happy Monday!

Over at Creative Colour Challenge #74, Vickie dropped a great color combination this morning. The green and coral immediately sent me to St. Patrick's Day. When I start a color challenge I usually look for patterned paper that matches the colors. Often times that will lead me to the stamp set I want to use. Today, the fun patterns of the Butterfly Kisses DSP led me to this week's sketch at Just Add Ink #637.

I started by cutting a 3 3/4" by 5" piece of the Calypso Coral Butterfly Kisses DSP. I cut this from corner to corner, long ways in both directions to create 4 triangles. I cut a piece of Starry Sky with the same measurements- do not cut. I then glued the Calypso Coral triangles to the top and bottom. Be careful cutting and gluing if your paper is directional.

I layered this card front to a piece of 3 7/8" by 5 1/8" of Shaded Spruce cardstock. After wrapping and tying Starry Sky In-Color Baker's Twine, I glued this to a Thick Basic White card base.

Using the Layering Circle dies, I cut a white circle and a coordinating Calypso Coral scalloped circle. I used a blending brush and added just a touch of Starry Sky ink to the circle. I glued the circles together and attached them to the card front.

With the Lucky Clover stamp set, I stamped the clover with Shaded Spruce ink and the sentiment with Calypso Coral ink. I used the punch to cut out the shamrock and attached both with dimensionals.

I added some Elegant Faceted Gems to finish my card.

Horizon Dies

Happy Sunday everyone, I cannot believe we are at the end of January. The good news is Spring is just around the corner. I have a card today that has very little stamping, just the sentiment. Sunday Stamps Challenge #301 has a great color combination found in a winter bouquet. I combined these colors with the card layout by Freshly Made Sketches #570. I flipped the image portion of the sketch over so that the sun would be on top. I also went with a horizontal card.

I used the Horizon dies to cut out the elements of the dies. I used Starry Sky, Basic Black, Rich Razzleberry, Blackberry Bliss and Calypso Coral cardstock. I attached the die-cuts with glue to a 5 1/4" by 4" piece of Basic White cardstock.

The sentiment from the On the Horizon stamp set was stamped with Basic Black ink.

The card front was layered onto a 5 3/8" by 4 1/8" piece of Basic Black cardstock. then attached to a thick Basic White card base.

PP625 with Taco Fiesta

Hello All! Today is the start of a new week and that means it it time for a new challenge from The Paper Players.

I picked the Taco Fiesta stamp set for my card. This set has a lot of great images to make some fun cards. The cute pun sentiments are perfect to brighten anyone's day.

Joanne has a fun and versatile sketch for everyone to play with. The Paper Players team has some great cards to inspire you. I hope you visit their blogs to check out what they created.

For my card, I started with a thick white card base. This was layered with a 4" by 5 1/4" piece of Mango Melody cardstock topped with a 3 3/4" by 5" piece of Rain or Shine Specialty DSP.

The images and sentiment were stamped with black ink using the Taco Fiesta stamp set. I used So Saffron, Granny Apple Green, Mossy Meadow, Sweet Sorbet and Smoky Slate blends to color the images.

Sadly, there are no dies for this set. They are pretty easy to fussy-cut. After cutting them out, I attached them to the card from with glue and dimensionals.

The sentiment was cut out using the Stylish Shapes dies. and adhered to the card with dimensionals.

I hope you join us at The Paper Players this week. We would love to see what you created for this Sketch Challenge. You can enter your project from now until noon PST on Friday February 3, 2023.

A Sweet Turtle

Hello Friends,

The card I made for today has an interesting color combination. Creative Colour Challenge #73 provided these three colors to work with; Gray Granite, Mossy Meadow and Parakeet Party.

I started with a Thick White card base. I blended Mossy Meadow and whatever color of blue was on a blending brush to the center of the card to create a subtle background.

Using the Scalloped Contour dies and the Stitched Rectangle dies, I made a Mossy Meadow frame from the Rustic Harvest DSP (ret). This was glued to the card front. I stamped the sentiment from the By My Side stamp set and the flowers from the Playing in the Rain stamp set with black ink.

I stamped the turtle and flowers on a scrap of white cardstock. They were colored with Mossy Meadow and Parakeet Party.  I used the coordinating dies to cut the stamped images out. I also cut the bridge out of Gray Granite cardstock. The turtle was attached with dimensionals at the top and glue dots at the bottom. I attached the bridge with glue and the flowers with dimensionals.

TBT: Nature's Beauty

Hello Everyone!

Today I am going back to 2019 with the Nature's Beauty stamp set. My card was inspired by Retro Rubber Challenge #198. They have a Winter Scene theme.

I started with a Starry Sky card base. I layered it with a 4" by 5 1/4" piece of Orchis Oasis cardstock. I embossed a 3 3/4" by 5" piece of basic white cardstock with the Woodland embossing folder (ret).

I used the largest circle from the Stylish Shapes dies and cut a white circle. Using Orchid Oasis ink and the Nature's Beauty stamp set I stamped some snowy trees. I used a blending brush with the Orchid Oasis ink to create a cold horizon. The circle was glued to the card front.

I stamped the deer with Soft Suede ink and colored it with various brown and gray pencils. This was fussy-cut out and attached to the card front with dimensionals.

The sentiment from the Art Gallery stamp set was stamped using Orchid Oasis ink. I attached this with dimensionals.

Floating Strips

Happy Tuesday!

Today's card combines two challenges. Inspire Create #134 has a beautiful card made by Verity as inspiration. Just Add Ink Challenge #636 has a fun challenge that asks you to showcase your favorite. I don't know about you but my favorites are always changing. Today I am using my favorite in-color Starry Sky and a favorite Sale- A-Bration DSP.

I used a thick white card base that was layered with a piece of 3 15/16" by 5 3/16" Starry Sky Dainty Flowers DSP. then topped with a piece of 3 3/4" by 5" white cardstock.

For the circle of paper strips, I started with a 3 1/2" square of window sheet. I cut 1/2" by 3 1/2" strips of three colors of the Dainty Flowers DSP. I glued the strips to the window sheet leaving about 1/8" in between. I used the largest circle from the Stylish Shapes dies and cut out a circle.

I used the flower from the Summer Shadows dies to cut out the flower from the circle. I also cut the same flower from the Starry Sky cardstock. The circles was attached to the card with dimensionals, and the flower was glued flat onto the card. I also added a leaf piece that was cut out of Mossy Meadow cardstock

The sentiment from the Shaded Summer stamp set was stamped with Starry Sky ink.

I added Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels to finish of the card.

Path of Petals

I have a card today that brought together two challenges. Tic, Tac, Toe Challenge #193, as always provided some great elements for inspiration. I went with flowers, vintage and ribbon. The layout for my card came from Paper Craft Crew #502 Vertical Sketch Challenge.

I started by cutting a 3 15/16" by 5 3/16" piece of Pressed Petal DSP (ret). This was layered onto a 4 1/16" 5 5/16" piece of Rococo Rose cardstock (ret).

I cut a 1 5/8" by 4 1/8" piece of the DSP and layered it onto a 1 3/4" by 4 1/4" piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock. I glued this to the card front.

I cut one more piece of the DSP that measured 1 5/8" by 3 3/8". This was layered onto a 1 3/4" by 3 5/8" piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock. This was glued to the card front.

I cut a 2 1/8" by 3" piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and stamped the image from the Path of Petals stamp set. I used Mossy Meadow, Rococo Rose and Crumb Cake inks. I roughed up the edges of this piece and used a blending brush to lightly color the paper in spots using Crumb Cake ink. This was glued to the card front.

The sentiment from Bloom with Hope stamp set (ret) was stamped with Crumb Cake ink. Before attaching the sentiment with dimensionals, I tied a ribbon around the card front. The whole thing was attached to a Mossy Meadow card base.

Cheers to Challenges

Hello All! I have a fun card today that I created from two challenges. SU Only Challenge #318 asked the maker to create a card that is predominantly black and white. Freshly Made Sketches #569 has a versatile sketch by Jacquie that worked great.

Every time I use the Rays of Light stamp, I remember how fun it is and wonder why I don't use it more. I thought it would be great for a black and white card. I highly recommend using the Stamparatus for this large stamp to ensure good coverage.

I used black ink on white cardstock. After stamping I cut the cardstock to 5 1/8" by 3 7/8". I layered this onto a 5 1/4" by 4" piece of black cardstock. This card front was attached to a Sahara Sand card base.

I got a little help from the cut outs of the He's All That Specialty DSP. I attached the "Cheers" circle with dimensionals. The used a blending brush with Crushed Curry int to color the torn  strip from the DSP. I cut it down so it wasn't so wide. I attached that to a 1/4 inch strip of black cardstock and glued that to the bottom part of the card.

Sweet Songbirds for PP624

Okay!  Confession time, I was sitting down to blog about my card and only just now realized that this week's card is supposed to be CAS. CAS usually means Clean and Simple right? Well, just for today let's go with Cute and Sweet.

The Paper Players have a new challenge that begins today. Jaydee is bringing us   Clean-and-Simple Challenge PP624 with a Happy 'bird" day theme.

I started my Cute and Sweet card (CAS) by cutting a 4 1/4" by 11" piece of Fresh Freesia cardstock. I scored the card at 5 1/2" and 2 1/2". Fold the card in half at 5 1/2 " and then fold up the 2 1/2" section.

I cut a 4" by 5 1/4" piece of the Fresh Freesia Dandy Designs DSP and attached it to the inside of the card. I cut a coordinating 4" by 2 1/4"piece of DSP and glued it to the flipped up section of the card base. I cut on more coordinating 4" by 2 3/4" piece of DSP and attached that to the top section, behind the flipped up piece.

I tied Fresh Freesia Ribbon around the flipped up section of the card.

I cut a Petal Pink rectangle using the Scalloped Contour dies and glued it to the flipped up section only, while centering the rectangle on the entire card front.

I cut a rectangle to fit the inside if the Fresh Freesia rectangle. Using the Sweet Songbird stamp set I stamped the branch in Soft Suede ink and some leaves using Granny Apple Green. I added Fresh Freesia Loose Flower Flourishes and stamped the sentiment with black ink.

The bird and small wing were stamped with Fresh Freesia ink and punched out with the coordinating punch. The feet were stamped with black ink and fussy-cut then glued to the bird. The beak was punched out of Mango Melody cardstock. The eyes were stamped with black ink. I attached the bird with dimensionals.

The inside of the card was stamped with Fresh Freesia, Granny Apple Green and black ink.

I hope you join us at The Paper Players this week. We would love to see what you created for this Clean and Simple Challenge. You can enter your project from now until noon PST on Friday January 27, 2023.

A Color Combo and a CASE

Hi all, Today I have a CASE of a card from the new mini catalog that uses the colors of a weekly challenge. For CASE-ing Tuesday Sketches #391 I kept the layout of the card pretty much the same. I changed the colors and the stamps. Creative Colour Challenge #72 provided the colors Fresh Freesia, Night of Navy and Soft Sea Foam. I was excited to be able to use the new Night of Navy Bordered Ribbon.

I started my card with a 4 1/4" by 5 1/2" piece of Fresh Freesia from the Dainty Flowers DSP. I attached this to the front of a Fresh Freesia card base.

I embossed a piece of 3 3/4" by 5" Soft Sea Foam cardstock with the Timeworn Type folder and set this aside.

I cut a Fresh Freesia circle using the Layering Circle dies- second largest and glued that to the Soft Sea Foam panel.

I stamped the floral image and sentiment with Night if Navy ink onto white cardstock. The sentiment was cut into a strip and I flagged the ends.

I used wink of Stella to the small flowers and the flower centers while the ink was still wet. This pulled in just enough color. I colored the rest of the image with Soft Sea Foam and Fresh Freesia Blends. I glued the flowers to the circle.

I tied a piece of the Night of Navy Bordered Ribbon around the card front. Then attached the card front to the card base. The sentiment was attached with dimensionals.

Opal Rounds were added to finish off the card.

Penguin Celebration

Hello Everyone,

Congratulations to Sunday Stamps on reaching their milestone of 300 Challenges. They asked there entrants to participate in there achievement by making a celebration card in addition to this week's sketch challenge. My card for Sunday Stamps Challenge #300 brings both challenges together. My card is also inspired by a great little girl who will be celebrating her 4th birthday soon with a penguin theme.

I started by cutting a piece of the Rain or Shine Specialty DSP with the Stitched Rectangle dies. I bordered that with a slightly larger piece of Night of Navy cardstock. This was glued to a Melon Mambo Card base.

I stamped the penguin with black and Mango Melody ink using the Penguin Place stamp set (ret). I used the Penguin Builder punch and attached it to the card front with dimensionals.

I used the Balloon Bouquet punch to cut out the balloons using Hues of Happiness DSP, Mango Melody and Melon Mambo cardstock. Theses were attached using glue and dimensionals. I attached the white twine with glue and tape.

The sentiment from Bonanza Buddies stamp set (ret) was stamped with Night of Navy ink. I bordered it with a piece of Night of Navy cardstock.

Adorable Owl Valentine

Hello All

Today I have a card that will be given to a sweet little girl. I brought together two challenges, some cute patterned paper and an adorable owl. The sketch for my card is from TGIF Challenges #403. TIC-Tac-Toe Challenge #192 inspired the elements I picked for the card. I used the top row of elements for my card; vellum, hearts and embossing.

I started by cutting a 5 1/2" by 4 1/4" piece of Petal Pink Country Floral Lane DSP and glued that to a Sweet Sorbet card base. I cut a 4 7/8" by 2 3/4" piece of the Sweet Sorbet DSP and glued that to the card front.

I used the Stitched rectangle dies to cut the white cardstock and used the Gingham embossing folder (ret) to add texture. I used the Heart Pack punch to cut a heart from Vellum. I glued the rectangle and the heart to the card front.

The Adorable Owl was stamped with black ink onto white cardstock. I colored the owl with Smoky Slate, Pumpkin Pie and Balmy Blue blends. The owl was fussy-cut and attached to the heart with dimensionals. I used the smallest heart from the Give it a Whirl dies to cut out a Sweet Sorbet heart. It was glued to the owl's wing.

The sentiment from the Catching Butterflies stamp set (ret) was stamped in Sweet Sorbet ink onto white card and I flagged the ends. This was attached with dimensionals and I added a Sweet Sorbet Baker's Twine bow.

Rainy Day and Sequins

I am loving the adorable characters from the Playing in the Rain Stamp Set. I made a card today that used the sassy little bunny. For my  card I combined two challenges. CASE-ing Tuesday Sketches #390 and SU Colour Challenge for January.

When I first saw the card to be cased I immediately thought of the Sequin dies. I decided to use Gray Granite for the background of my card so I cut sequins out of the remaining challenge colors, Balmy Blue, Pacific Point and Poppy Parade. I attached the sequence onto a 5 1/4" by 4" piece of Gray Granite cardstock.

I stamped the bunny from Playing in the Rain onto white cardstock using black ink. I used blends in the challenge colors, replacing dark Tahitian Tide for Pacific Point to color the umbrella. I also used light flirty Flamingo for the ears and nose. The bunny was cut out with a Layering Circle die and the umbrella from the Playing in the Rain dies. These were attached to the card front.
I added the Balmy Blue Adhesive Backed Sequins to finish the card.

Conversation Hearts

My card tonight is a throwback to a favorite stamp set from last year, Sweet Conversations. I used the colors provided by Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Challenge #405. The colors were Petal Pink, Pool Party and Mango Melody. I combined this with Paper Craft Crew Vertical Sketch Challenge #501.

I started by cutting a 3 3/4" by 3" piece of Petal Pink Dandy Designs DSP. I also cut a 3 3/4" by 2" piece of Mango Melody Dandy Designs DSP. These were layered onto a 3 7/8" by 5 1/8" piece of Pool Party cardstock. I cut a 1/3" by 3 3/4" piece of Pool Party to cover the seam between the two pieces of DSP. The sentiment was stamped onto a 3/8" strip of white cardstock with black ink and glued to card front. The card front was attached to a Mango Melody card base.

I stamped the hearts using the three colors and basic black ink using the Sweet conversations stamp set. I used the Sweet Hearts dies to cut them out. I attached them to the card using dimensionals. I added Heart Pearls to finish the card.
