Books, Books, Books!

Hi All,

Today's card is inspired by Festive Friday Challenge #0130. Their challenge celebrates International Children's Book Day, which is Sunday, April 2nd. This is a day very worthy of a celebration. The day is designed to promote a love of reading and call attention to books for children. As a Mom, Grandma and former teacher, I truly believe that having a love for reading can be life changing for someone at any age.

When I saw the challenge Inspo list of ten, I immediately thought of the Birthday Bonanza DSP from a few years back. I don't know about anyone else but the candle paper always looked like rows of books to me. So, I thought it would make a great background for my card. What next? I looked through my stamp sets and found the Tassel Time stamp set from 2003. Next, to make it a card for kids, I pulled out the Adoable Owls stamp set. I love it when everything comes together!

The Inspo items i used were; children's sentiment, books, bright colors and patterned paper.

I started by cutting the candle DSP into 5" by 7/8" strips. These were glued to a 5 1/4" by 4" piece of white cardstock. I cut 5" by 1" strip from the Terra Cotta Tile DSP and adhered that to the bottom to replicate a carpet for my library floor.  This card front was attached to a Bermuda Bay card base.

I stamped two owls, some books and the sentiment, from A Grand Kid, with black ink onto white cardstock. I used Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Bermuda Bay, Crumb Cake, Gray Granite, dk Pumpkin Pie, dk Balmy Blue, and lt Night of Navy blends to color the stamped images. They were fussy-cut and attached to the card with glue and dimensionals.
